  A partir de! estudio de las transformaciones en dos zonas de gran aptitud agrícola y sin sociedades campesinas preexistentes a su expansión productiva (el Corn Belt norteamericano y ia pampa maicera argentina) durante un peí iodo de intenso cambio tecnológico {la segunda mitad del siglo XX), se intenta aportar elementos para analizar la relación entre el desarrollo capitalista en el agro y la consolidación de una determinada forma de tenencia del suelo. Nuestra metodología ha sido la confrontación de los datos censales sobre la cantidad y superficie de las diferentes explotaciones según su forma de tenencia entre 1947 y 1988. Las fuentes básicas de este trabajo fueron los Censos Nacionales Agropecuarios de 1937, 1947, 1969 y 1988 y los Censas of Agriculture de 1940, 1950, i 969, 1987 y 1992. Por otra parte, hemos incorporado información presente en las publicaciones de las estaciones agrícolas experimentales de ambas regiones.

• Abstract

  We analyze the transformations in land tenure in two areas with a great agricultural aptitude and without peasant societies previous to their productive expansión (The US Corn Belt and the Argentine Corn Pampa), during a period of an intense technological change (the second haíf of the XXcentury). In this way, we are trying to improve the knowledge aboutthe relationship between the agradan capitalism development and the consolidation of a specific form of land tenure. Our methodology has been the companson of census data about the Cjuantity and the area occupied by different farms distinguished by their forms of tenure between 1947 and 1988. The basic sources have been the Censos Nacionales Agropecuarios of 1937,1947,1969 and 1988 and the Census of Agriculture of 1940, 1950, 1969, 1987 and 1992. We also added information published by the agricultural experiment stations of both regions.
